Holding on to all 3 1sts is def the wise thing to do for Cal at this point...is Kipper coming back for 1 more season?...If not.....

Agree - hang on to all of them, need some patience this year in Calgary. Could be a rough one!

No I dont think so - Hes done. Given how things went down with respect to the potential trades etc toward the end of the year and how hes expressed that he wanted to be with his family, I think he takes off.

The Flames will be signing Ramo soon(July5th), him and Joey Mac will battle for starting position.

If kipper indeed does not come to play this year the Flames will be penalized with a cap recapture penalty won't they?

Edit: only 6 yr contract so no penalty...

How about a trade with Tampa for the third pick. Take on vinny's contract and buy him out. In the long run it would be worth it in the long run to get a franchise player.

Use the 6th pick on Lindholm, use the other two and a 2nd to trade up and get a more sure thing 1st.

Give Cundari and brodie (bodie) however you spell it lots of minutes on d this year.

At this time Calgary does not have a 2nd round pick in this year's draft. I think that we traded it to MTL with Borque for Rammo and Cammi. Not sure though.

I would be happy if Calgary drafted Monohan or Lindholm with 6th pick. From what I can gather Monohan is slightly more offensively gifted and Lindholm is a better 2-way player. With the 22nd and 28th pick I hope that they take at least one or possibly two scoring right wingers, preferably with some size, as we have none in our system at this time

They signed him to his 3 year ELC not that long ago & they expect him to play in AHL to start next year. He will get a good look in camp. Gilles is actually attracting more attention, he looks like he may be even better than Brossoit, you'll probably see Gilles manning the net for the USA team at the coming WJC this year.

Read an interesting rumour going around with Buffalo, Vanek, Myers & a 2nd for Backlund, Cammi & our #22. I can almost see the Flames doing this. Either way, its gonna be fun watching what we do.

I wouldn't target the Vinny deal, let the leafs do it, they like to spend $$$, Edwards you really have to justify. Now Dipietro, would be worth targeting. The buyout is 24 mill spread over 16 years so 1.5mill per year. If we can throw Cammi or preferably Tanguay, the buyout is mitigated, & if we can get Nino & the 15th overall, I would do it. Then Feaster can run an internal 1.0mill below the cap to offset the buyout for Edwards. Then I would offer Wideman & that 22nd to Carolina for #5.

You know, being a Leaf fan for many of us is a curse not a choice right? I wouldn't sit there and say Cubs fans are idiots because they're Cubs fans. They just grew up in Chicago, not their fault their team sucks.

I would say I'm a hockey fan, who inherited the Leafs curse from his grandfather.

Then take Rychel with the other pick. And grab Petan with the last one.

A alot of money yes but when you look at what a franchise player can bring in revenue wise over say 10 years. It could be worth it

I think if Edwards doesn't care about the money you definitely trade for RD or VL and buy them out. Go with which ever is the best offer. If it's the Islander pick (15 i think) you then use it to try and trade up and get 2 top 10 picks. If it's with Tampa then you instantly have 2 top 10 picks.

I'm fine though if we do nothing and just pick 3 good players. However I do believe Feaster will be trading a couple more roster players to get more picks for this years draft.

Whatever way it goes Feaster (Murray) better not fck this up...

I like the idea of trading for a buyout if it nets a niño or a top pick but I think this wont be as easy as we all think ... Tampa and isles both have more then a few teams looking at them as targets so it might not be an easy deal to make ... I eould be shocked if Tampa packages their 3rd in a vinny deal as that pick will be a top end player -elite star

With the depth of this draft and the fact that scouts ranking on players varies so widely I think it would be best for the Flames to use all 3 picks. Even try to get another by dumping Cammi if they keep some salary. This years draft is reminding me a lot of the 2003 draft where there were guys being ranked all over the place. Teams like Anaheim got 2 franchise players late in round one. Hell everyone got an outstanding player in round one (except the Oilers )

Use the picks. Take a Center (Lindholm, Monahan, Horvat), A big Dman (Morin, Bowey, Bigras) and a RW (Hartman, Nastasiuk) and another player of they get another pick. In a few years that will look good.

I'm not sure about these ideas of trading a player that will then be bought out. GM's would really have to trust that the buyout will happen. If they trade the guy and he doesn't get bought out, then retires the team would get hit with the recapture penalty.

If they did swing a trade for Vinny, which I hope they don't, they would likely keep him around. He'd be Calgary's best centre for at least 2 or 3 years. Either way, his contract is sooo bad, it's not worth it. Then again, Feaster signed him to it so maybe he thinks it's an okay deal.
